missed the boat

We missed the boat to continue with soccer this summer. We were planning on going to Turkey. That is why we did not register for soccer. Now it is too late. Mike says there was reduced interest actually this year and they combined U12 and U13 and ended up with a large team. So there is no room for Muhammed.

Shirdon is in the team. Maybe we will go to some games to cheer for them and post pictures here. We'll see.

Lightning 8-3 Maple Brook

This game was a make up game. Last week it was canceled because of the thunderstorm. This time the referee had to stop the game several times because of the heat to allow the players to get some water.
It was nice to end the season by winning the last game.

Coon Rapids 7-3 Lightning

Coon Rapids is a very strong team but Lightning did find good positions especially in the second half. In the first half Marcel was the goalkeeper (because Logan was missing) and the Lightning couldn't get the ball out of their side of the field.

Lifetouch took team pictures the other day. I had my camera and managed to got a few shots as well.

Unfortunately many were missing that day. I'll try to get a team picture before the next game.

Ramsey Rockets 3-11 Lightning

After the first game against the Rockets I said the score could have been higher. Well, it was higher this time. Good job guys!

Apparently the Rockets coach is a good friend of Mike. I hope their friendship is not in jeopardy. :)

Lightning 6-1 Shoreview

Blaine 3-3 Lightning

Blaine won all their previous games but Lightning Boys managed to get a point from them in their field. Logan was fantastic as the goalkeeper. He even saved a penalty kick!

This was stopped early because of heavy rain and hail!

Lightning 3-8 Coon Rapids

This was played on June 8th. Big loss at the home field. I missed this one too as I was on travel.

Maple Brooke 2 - 3 Lightning

I missed this game (hence no pictures, sorry) but I heard that it was a tough game. Apparently Marcel (2) and Muhammed (1) scored the goals. It is good to have Marcel back. He is an excellent player.

best coaches

The coaches have been doing an excellent job. Yet, expect the team to get even better. Ismail, Shirdon's dad, who is a veteran soccer player said that he will be able to help coaching the team from now on. Thanks Ismail.

The official scores show the Shoreview game result as 8-1. I thought it was 9-1. Sorry about that. I'll correct it below.
